Nervous System what will I learn?

Know how to speak simply and accurately of the nervous system and how it relates to movement practice, and more specifically to yoga practices. This is a general presentation of concepts that movement teachers should be familiar with to understand the impact of what they offer. It encourages students to deepen their knowledge in different branches of neurological studies related to movement practice.

Here is a general presentation of what we will be exploring, and how it relates to movement practice.
- How does the nervous system work?
- What are efferent and afferent nerves?
- What are Mechanoreceptors? Proprioceptors? Nociceptors?
- What are the effects of Yoga on the brain?
- What is the difference between the central (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS)?
- What are the Dermatomes?
- What happens when a muscle is stretched?
- What is the polyvagal theory? How does it relate to our practice?
