Pelvic Diaphragm
Pelvic Diaphragm what will I learn?
What are we talking about? The Pelvic floor? Pelvic wall? Pelvic diaphragm? Perineum? In this session we will:
- Study the main anatomical structures of the Pelvic Diaphragm.
- Know how to speak simply and accurately of the body structures.
- Understand the Perineum structures, in relationship with Yoga, Pilates or other movement-based practice and use that knowledge to guide your teaching.
- Apply practical anatomical knowledge to adapt postures to every body.
- Know how to detect the physiological limitations of your students to identify possible dangerous movements for them.
The Pelvic Diaphragm (PD) Curriculum
- Observe and know the pelvic diaphragm: Pelvis, fascia, superficial muscles, deep muscles, viscera.
- Challenge your visualisation of the pelvic diaphragm as a “floor” or a flat structure.
- The relationship between breath and pelvic diaphragm and observation in different postures. Does the posture involve a specific breathing pattern?
- Does the posture bring reinforcement of the PD muscles?
- Does the posture bring reinforcement of a specific zone of the PD?
- What postures are bringing pressure on the PD? What techniques diminish pressure on the PD?
- What about Pelvic Pain? W here does it come from? Can we address it in a movement class?
- What about prolapses? Is PD reinforcement really the answer?
